Round 2 North West Youth League – Astley and Tydesley, Cycle Speedway

A total of 7 Cog Set riders turned up to have a go at this very different cycling discipline. Everything was different from what they were used to – the bikes, circuit, riding style, speed, starts but they all arrived with the thought of trying it out and having some fun. Each age category had 4 races each with 4 riders on the grid, changing grid positions each time. This was then followed by finals to determine the overall winner. The kids may have been up for just a bit of fun but their competitive nature took over at the start line and each one was determined to do the best they could. The weather was kind to us for most of the races apart from one extremely heavy shower, flooding the track, making things very difficult for a couple of the races. Everyone finished with smiles on their faces and enjoyed doing something different with a few riders going home with medals.

Round 1 North West Youth League – Litherland

Good results from lots of Cog set riders A good Win for Ben in the 2nd race, some really good team work from Bobby Horton with a good lead out. Andrew Barlow

A grand total of 15 Cog Setters racing yesterday, I think we have had more riders than any other club at regional events so far this year. Great to see so many all trying their hardest and enjoying themselves as well especially the three cogsetters who’d not raced away from Salt Ayre before and if you’re thinking about racing have a go at our excellent, friendly Wednesday night series! It was a great race to watch unfold . Fantastic skills by Bobby to weave through a tight peleton with Ben hugging his wheel .well timed and Powerful sprinting by Ben to take the win. Well done Cogset. Mike Wong

Pictures coming soon!
